We use cement to mix with sand and water to make mortar for the foundation lines of bricks for each wall, and for between the lime bricks we use in some of our buildings, including our brand new 3/4-complete classroom block.
This is an integral part to any construction site. We don't use electric machinery on-site at Project Riandu (except occasionnaly a circular saw for timber) and so we don't have a cement mixer but mix our cement by hand/shovel on the floor.
This is actually one of our regular volunteer's most favourite on-site activity. He says it's "very relaxing".
When you purchase one bag of cement a thankyou card is dispatched to the delivery address.
Please ensure that you enter the delivery address of the gift-receiver when ordering. And enter a message for the card into 'Note to Seller' on the order form.
Please note that you will not receive one bag of cement as this is not a sales purchase but a donation of a suggested amount.
The donation amount suggested would cover the price of one bag of cement to be used to build the school on site in Riandu, Kenya, but will not necessarily be used for this specific item- although will be used for building materials for the school as needed.
The thankyou card will arrive within 5 working days for UK donations and around 10 working days for donations made from Kenya. Any other non-UK addresses may take longer, but we will do our best to get them to gift-receivers by Christmas.
