There's been lots of exciting things happening with the Project over the past couple of weeks.
Fundraising events have officially kickstarted with a whopping  45 mile cycle in York. Seven fundraisers, all over 40, achieved this in 5.5 hours and braved the glorious British weather to raise money for the project. Kudos to you all. Its not too late to show your support,  go over to our Just Giving page and donate. One of our volunteers Ali is currently planning for the upcoming marathon in Salomon Downs and there is a quiz night coming up in York.
There will be plenty more events coming up so keep a look out on our Facebook and Twitter pages for information on what might be going on near you.

On to more practical aspects about the Project, the pre-design paperwork is just about completed. This gives us a good breakdown of exactly what is going to be built and when. We have also drawn up a contract between the Uk team and the Kenyan team to ensure we will meet their expectations, which is a great step forward.

Stay tuned for more developments!

Busy times..

It's been a busy past week for the project and the pace really is picking up. With new members added to the media team it's been great to see lots of new ideas coming through to do with the design. This also means fundraising and promotional material is soon to be available and we can share this project even further. Fundraising clusters have also been allocated now to all the volunteers as we are quite a big group so having these smaller groups will make communicating and planning easier for the fundraising events and activities. These are allocated in terms of location meaning even during the Easter and Summer break fundraising can still go on.

Another exciting development is that flights are going to be booked this coming week which makes the first phase of the build feel much closer and much more of a reality. We are still searching for 10 more volunteers for the project so if all this is getting you excited or if someone you know would be interested, we'd love to hear from you.

Thank you for your continued to support! Remember to like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter.

Spread the word

Firstly, a BIG thank you to all friends, family and supporters who've helped with donations so far. Every little helps and enables us to get one step closer to turning this vision into a reality. If you haven’t yet, check out our Just Giving community which will also provide you with a short message from the volunteers about why they've decided to get involved with the project too. This is open to those who can't make it on the build too, so why not make a page with us and help us fundraise?

An exciting challenge has been set, as our team in Kenya have raised £10,000 so far, which is fantastic! Our challenge is to see whether we can beat that mark, which means spreading the word as far as possible, so more people get to know about Project Riandu and can get involved.  Continue to follow, like and share the pages with friends. Fundraising teams are currently being set up amongst the volunteers so soon we will also be hosting fundraising events and activities which will be fun and easy to get involved in.

Thanks again for your support and we'll continue to keep you updated on what's going on.

It's been a while since the last blog update, but things are certainly getting on their way. Core team roles are gradually being allocated, fundraising pages are being set up and more volunteers are getting on board this exciting adventure.
There is still room to get involved with the project. Whether you're interested in joining the team, supporting through fundraising or even offering advice and suggestions. For more information on this check out the get involved section on the website!
For further updates on what the team is up to, follow us on Twitter or like us on Facebook, already have? Why not invite your friends to like the page too. We would love to spread the word and get as much support as possible!

Asante!
(Thank you!)
